and also have a slight idea of what you want .

and be specific. if you want short choppy layers and a side fringe . say that and show your picture .

I just got my hair cut yesterday like this. I brought in a picture, the best one I could find showing the hair. Then I asked for lots of short choppy layers on the top of my head so I can make it all messy looking when I style it, but it doesn't stick out when I don't. and asked him to leave the bottom of my hair the same length. Then I asked for some side bangs and it turned out perfect

go to your hairstylist and show that picture. but go to a hairstylist that at least has lots of experience cutting hair, so they give you the right haircut.

just ask for lots of layers, and lots of layers on the top and get your hair thinned out
